Who is the CELTA for?
The CELTA course is for those who want to become professional English teachers:
- You don’t need to have previous experience in teaching.
- You may already be a teacher and want to develop your skills and get a recognized qualification.
- First-language English speakers and non-first-language speakers.
What is the criteria for enrolling on the CELTA course?
In order to apply for the CELTA course you should:
- Have a standard of English which will enable you to teach at a range of levels (Minimum CEFR Level high C1 or above).
- Have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education.
- Be aged 18 or over.

What is the difference between the CELTA course online blended and Face to face?
The online Blended CELTA is a teacher training course that combines online CELTA training with face-to- face components. This course has the same content as the presential one, and the certificate is the same.
- In-put is provided asynchronous on Cambridge’s platform, the coursework is overseen by one of our experienced tutors and you will have live meetings in group and individually.
- Teaching practice is face-to- face.

- Teaching Practice – The teaching practice will take place in a Zoom classroom for groups of real adult students. After the class you will receive feedback on your teaching. This is carried out in a relaxed and friendly manner and usually leads to amazing insights about the learning teaching process.

What happens on the CELTA course?
- Six hours’ assessed teaching practice per candidate supervised by a course tutor;
- Feedback on teaching;
- Input;
- Supervised lesson planning;
- Peer observation;
- Observation of experienced teachers (minimum 6 hours);
- Four written assignments.
Course length – 120 hours
Candidates will need to dedicate about 80 hours to the required reading research, pre- and post- session tasks, assignments and lesson preparation.
How will I be assessed on the CELTA course?
The assessment for you to obtain the Cambridge CELTA certificate is based on your performance in:
- Teaching Practice
You will be observed teaching 6 hours to adults at a minimum of 2 levels of ability.
Assessment is based on your overall performance. - Written assignments
You will complete four written assignments with 750 – 1000 words each.
The assignment topics are:
- Analysing and responding to adults learner needs;
- Analysing language for teaching purposes;
- Teaching language skills;
- Reflecting on classroom teaching.
There are three different grades: Pass A, Pass B and Pass.

How to enroll on the CELTA course?
To enroll on the CELTA course you need to go through an Application process which includes a Language Awareness Task plus an interview in English with the main course tutor via Zoom. In the interview the tutor will let you know if you are able to do the CELTA course.
