Who is the CELTA for?
The CELTA course is for those who want to become professional English teachers:

What are the criteria for enrolling on the CELTA course?
To apply for the CELTA course you should:
- Have a standard of English which will enable you to teach at a range of levels (Minimum CEFR Level high C1 or above).
- Have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education.
- Be aged 18 or over.

CELTA Course Online or Face-to-Face?
The 100% online course Asynchronous
- Input – Self-Study of Theory and methodology on Cambridge platform and trainer led sessions in real time on Zoom.
- Teaching Practice – the practical part is live teaching of real students observed by Tutors and peers, follow by feedback, on Zoom.
- Feedback on teaching practice – This is carried out in a relaxed and friendly manner and usually leads to amazing insights about the learning teaching process, on Zoom
The 100% online course Synchronous.
- Input –Theory and methodology sessions, led by our team of experienced CELTA tutors, in real time on Zoom
- Teaching Practice – the practical part is live teaching of real students, observed by Tutors and peers, follow by feedback, on Zoom.
- Feedback on teaching practice – This is carried out in a relaxed and friendly manner and usually leads to amazing insights about the learning teaching process, on Zoom.
NB.: The online courses have the same syllabus and lead to the exact same international certificate as the face-to-face CELTA courses.
The Face-to-Face CELTA:
- Both teaching practice and input are given Face-to-Face at our centre with the same content as in the other course formats.
What happens on the CELTA course?
- Six hours’ assessed teaching practice per candidate, supervised by course tutors: These 6 hours are usually divided into 8 lessons of 45 minutes.
- Feedback on teaching: where you get to voice your own opinion of your class, and your tutor will share their view on how it could be improved and what worked well.
- Input: This will be given through pragmatic learning units on a platform, and through interactive sessions with experienced tutors.
- Supervised lesson planning: You will be provided with teaching material and brief with instructions for what you need to do, and you will have an opportunity to run your ideas for teaching by your tutor.
- Peer observation: Trainees will be divided into groups for teaching practice, and when you are not teaching, you will participate in observing and giving feedback to your peers.
- Observation of experienced teachers (minimum 6 hours): You will not only observe your tutors teaching live, but you will observe experienced teachers teaching multilingual groups of students as well.
- Four written assignments: The assignments are super practical, focusing on language analysis, students’ learning needs, developing a reading or listening lesson and reflecting on your own development as a teacher.
Course length – 120 hours
Candidates will need to dedicate about 80 hours to the required reading research, pre- and post- session tasks, assignments and lesson preparation.
How will I be assessed on the CELTA course?
The assessment for you to obtain the Cambridge CELTA certificate is based on your performance in:
- Teaching Practice
You will be observed teaching 6 hours to adults at a minimum of 2 levels of ability.
Assessment is based on your overall performance. - Written assignments
You will complete four written assignments with 750 – 1000 words each.
The assignment topics are:
- Analysing and responding to adults’ learning needs;
- Analysing language for teaching purposes;
- Teaching language skills;
- Reflecting on classroom teaching.
There are three different grades: Pass A, Pass B and Pass.

How to enroll on the CELTA course?
To enroll on the CELTA course you need to go through an Application process which includes a Language Awareness Task plus an interview in English with the main course tutor via Zoom. In the interview the tutor will let you know if you are able to do the CELTA course.
